Ferrule is a custom-machined connector made of metal or plastic that slips over the end of a run of cable housing to provide a solid base for the end of the housing. They can be used together with the connector that connects the fiber cable either to another cable or to a transmitter or receiver. Th e ferrule keeps the fibers accurately aligned within the connector. Zinc plated ferrules are used on fencing wire to prevent a reaction between sleeves and wire.Alloy ferrules are used for single wire applications. Refractory ferrules are used for boiler tube applications. They resist high melting points, thus have wear resistance, high temperature strength, electrical or thermal insulation or such characteristics. They are featured with standard custom designs, single or multi mode and high precision ID, OD and concentricity for use in SC or FC fiber optic connectors. Ferrules come with spectrum sizes and designs for diverse applications. A wide range of ferrules is manufactured by a host of manufacturers.
