Most often we start up our day with a cup of tea or coffee in the morning. This would be termed as a relaxing beverage. Thus, it contributes a unique place in our lives. In India the essence of tea and coffee became vital for every household. Thus, they are producing in abundance according to the moTea &  Coffeeunting demand. India is the largest producer and consumer of tea in the world. It also leads in global R & D in tea industry. India is the largest manufacturer and exporters of tea machinery. Tea plantation is abundance in northeastern region accounts for 76% of total tea production.

The regions of tea plantation include in the North- East, Upper Assam and West Bengal. In the South, regions of Kerela and Tamil Nadu produce tea. In the North- east the foothills of Darjeeling, areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Orissa, Sikkim and Uttar Pradesh have plenty of tea plantations. They are produced in wide range differ in their taste such as Darjeeling tea, Assam tea, flavored tea, green tea, Nilgiri tea, whole leaf tea, broken tea, fanning and dust, leaf tea, granular tea etc. Dust tea is preferred in the South where as flavoured tea is in Gujarat, CTC broken tea in West Bengal and Orissa. Coffee production in India is restricted only to 3.1 lakh hectare.

The cultivation also confined to the hilly regions of the southern states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The domestic market consumes the one fifth of the coffee bean while the rest is exported. The coffee production is segmented into instant and filter coffee. Filter coffee can further be segmented into pure and chicory blend coffee.
