Rubber-coated fabrics are manufactured by reinforcing rubber using premium fibers such as Kevlar, Nomex, Conex, Vectran, Teflon, polyester, and nylon. It is done by placing a thin layer of rubber between two sheets of cloth like a sandwich. Rubber-coated fabrics are environment friendly products tha t do not produce dioxins or environmental hormones, which is a major problem with vinyl and similar plastic materials. Moreover, rubber-coated materials are extremely light (at approximately half the weight of vinyl-coated fabrics), which makes them ideal for use in products used by older people.
