Segmented wood wine bottle stoppers are the perfect gift for any wine lover! Sometimes these wine bottle stoppers are not painted or stained - they feature natural colors! Using bits of lumber from other projects, Tom adds slices of exotic woods and creates glued blocks. A hole is drilled and an  oak dowel is glued into the block. The dowel serves two purposes. First, it is fastened into the lathe chuck to hold the wood as the bottle stopper is turned. Second, the cork is fastened onto the dowel. This means that your cork will not snap off. Most people prefer a specific style of wine bottle stopper. Some prefer a thicker bottle stopper that can easily be gripped to remove it from the bottle. Others prefer a medium diameter wine stopper that is in proportion with the bottle. Some like short wine stoppers, others like tall, almost chess-piece like bottle stoppers.
