A die is a device used for cutting out, forming, or stamping material. It is used to engrave metal pieces for impressing a design onto a softer metal, as in coining money or a part on a machine that punches shaped holes in, cuts, or forms sheet metal, cardboard, or other stock.
There are several component pieces that are fitted into a diestock to cut threads on screws or bolts. Dies are also used in a metal block containing small conical holes through which plastic, metal, or other ductile material is extruded or drawn.
There are different types of dies these include, tensile test dies, tear test dies etc. There are many other types, dimensions, different standards, and sizes of die available and sold in the market.
