Electrical appliances are prone to damage due to voltage fluctuations. Because these appliances operate continuously and are controlled by thermostats or other sensors such as refrigerators, air conditioners and pumps are subject to damage by high or low line voltage. In these devices a positive pro tection is provided, a circuit breaker that senses the out-of-limits condition and then disconnects the load.
