A pager is a dedicated radio frequency device that allows the user to receive messages and broadcast on a specific frequency over a special network of radio base stations. They are largely used to send messages, file sending, and act as a simple reminder device. They are capable of receiving an alph anumeric message. A cellular phone may act as a pager, as may email. The Pagers or "Beepers" are portable communication messenger devices in which the person sending the message uses a touch-tone phone and calls the pagers number, then the person enter their number or voice message and within moments the pager carrier is notified by an audible "beep" or a silent vibration. The number or voice message can be read on the pagers LCD screen. The pager is a wonderful device as it carries a sophisticated receiver with its little case. A wide range of pagers is manufactured by a host of manufacturers.
