Signalling transformers generally used for railway signalling purpose. They also used in railway lighting for trackside maintenance, site lighting etc. Trackside maintenance requires the use of portable tools and site lighting, which makes the provision of a reliable low voltage trackside supply ess ential. Generally, they provide a 4.0 KVA single phase 240V / 110V isolating transformer, with petroleum jelly filled and enclosed in a galvanized sheet steel tank, complete with 63 amp socket outlet.
