Incandescent lamp consists of a fairly large, thin, frosted glass envelope. Inside the glass is an inert gas such as argon and/or nitrogen. At the center of the lamp is a tungsten filament. Electricity heats the filament. The heated tungsten emits visible light in a process called incandescence.
H alogens are popular form of incandescent lamps largely used for outdoor applications like studio, stage, film and television lighting. Low wattage incandescent lamps can be used for indoor purpose, as they require low voltage. For indication purpose incandescent bulbs are came with flood light configuration used in indicator signals.
They came in different base types. Like medium base, largely used for table lamps, floor, ceiling fixtures, flood and spot lights. Candelabra, with small screw bases, bayonnet, mogul bases found in garage or utility building fixtures. Different colour of incandescent lamps is available for wide applications. They are also differing in voltage range.A wide range of incandescent lamps is manufactured by a host of manufacturers.
