Metal halide lamps are high-intensity discharge lamps that use mercury and several halide additives as light-producing elements. These lamps are largely used in security and parking lots and in many areas where color temperature and color rendition are less important, i.e. warehouses, street lightin g, security lighting etc. They are applicable in a wide range of commercial, industrial and municipal spaces and offer an excellent quality of light. Metal halide gas discharge lamps are widely used in areas such as accent lighting in shops, indoor lighting, outdoor application etc. Color metal halide lamps have high color rendering and high luminous efficacy and is often used for architectural and decorative applications. Single ended metal halide lamps are used in many down lighters and projector lamps, track spotlights and display lighting.
These lamps require auxiliary equipment like ballast, capacitors, igniters, and power supplies to provide the correct electrical values for starting and operation. They are commonly available in different watts.
